Hello,
I needed a platform to share photographs. A place where I could share photographs without care for what people think. Now I am by no means popular on social media but I still find myself hovering over the post button worrying about whether people will like the picture or not.
Using a blog to share my photographs I am hoping to remove this constant desire, that I’m sure we all have, to check back on each post to make sure people like it. Social media is great, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t feel like I can post things without wondering if people like me the photographs.
There are only two types of photographs that work on social media (Instagram) in my opinion. Super wide-angle landscape photographs, for example, where a mountainous landscape creates a beautiful image without the need to see the finer details of any of the elements in the picture. Or super close up photographs showing the beauty in the detail of something where I’m left to imagine what the rest of the picture could look like. Examples below:

My photographs, generally speaking, are somewhere in between these two types. Some of my photographs have details that are lost on a smaller screen. Most of the time the image doesn’t have great form as a whole but it’s the smaller ‘lost’ details that make them interesting.

The only way I can control what people see and more importantly how they see it was to put them on my own website. I don’t think I’m better than social media or anything like that. I just think my pictures deserve a place to call home. A place where I can just post a pile of photographs that I like and just leave them there and if anyone asks to see them I can just point them here.
So it has come to this. A man in his 30’s starting a blog to post images and talk about his feelings…
Bryan.
