Photographic Study of Launderettes in Glasgow.

2016 was the year. And that was the year I decided it was about high time someone in Glasgow had better document all the launderettes in the city. This year was obviously the year I got right into documentary photography and I thought in 5 years time someone will come across these photos and be transported back in time to when their favourite wash house was still open. Take photos not for today but for the future generations I was probably muttering to myself as I cycled through the pothole infested streets that I once called home.

It was a lovely evening and after dinner I plucked up the courage (as I’d never done a photo series before) and decided that this night was the night. I popped my trusty Sony RX1, with its sensor and lens combo that produced gorgeous images, around my neck and mounted my bike. We were ready to change the world with that 35mm Zeiss Sonar.

Anyway. Fast-forward 5 years and the only person that has seen these photographs are, well, me and my hard drive. Any let me tell you this. Neither of us are impressed. If you do find joy in any of these photographs then let me know it was worth my time.

Cringe as I may reading this back but I also recorded the cycle on Strava to sort of prove or maybe even add to the immersive experience that is about to hit you.

Interesting. As I’ve added the photos to this post it seems that 2016 Bryan loved a square crop. Apologies for that.

I even set a few personal best records on this night. How odd.
