Just before Covid became more popular that owning a Leica M6, I bought a Leica M6. February 2020. After sitting thinking we were all going to die for a few months I finally got the chance to take it out in the summer of that year.

I had some great times wondering around the streets with it and I really loved some of the pictures I took with it. This is not a review of a camera though. It is me posting some pictures.

Wondering around the streets of Glasgow taking photos was a great learning experience. One of the cool things it taught me how to manually focus quickly and as a result I now know exactly how far away 2 metres is. This is because if I want an average hight person to fill the frame in portrait orientation, with a 50mm lens on the camera, they need to be 2 metres away. And if I want a person to fill the frame in landscape orientation, with a 28mm lens on the camera, they need to be 2 metres away. Life skills like this are important.

Due to poor photo archive management a lot of my photos are just lying about on my computer and have never seen the light of day. Not that anyone needs to see them but someone once said to me photographs need a place to live and that’s why they blog. So with that in mind here I am trying to be more active in giving my photographs a place to live.

Taking photos on the street is great. The thrill of the hustle and bustle along with the rush of taking a strangers photograph. The smiles you get along with the smirks and glances as you make someones day by making them think they were interesting enough to a photograph. I haven’t taken photos like this for a long time and hope to get out more this summer.

Also due to the aforementioned poor archive management I can’t easily navigate my Glasgow Street photographs and it’s a bit of a hassle sorting them out. So I will leave this as a sort of ‘Part I’ of many and see what happens.
All photos taken with Leica M6.
