2024 Update

I love taking pictures and writing a bit of text that goes along with them. However it turns out 2024 was a year where I wasn’t going to take many photographs. I took an unplanned break from taking photos. When I was thinking about it the other day I thought I had just gone off the hobby. But when I thought about it further and realised there was something in the process that was stopping me taking photos…

Hi, my name is Bryan. And today I upgraded my computer.

I went through my photography process one stage at a time to analyse why I hadn’t taken many photos this year and discovered that the culling and editing of the photos was a major problem for me. Thinking about it I realised that I’d been complaining about the lack of horsepower in my computing department. It was so lacking in power that even switching photos in Lightroom was taking about 20 seconds. That’s enough to put anyone off a 10+ year hobby.

So out with the old and in with the new. I retired my faithful 2012 MacBook Pro and welcomed onto my desk a 2024 Mac Mini. I chose the Mac Mini over the other offering from Apple as I have a monitor that I’m quite fond of and wanted to continue using. A 30” Apple Cinema Display that is showing no signs of its age.
